Get Exicted for Donald Trump

Have you ever had a class taught by bad teacher. A real bad teacher, who is also a jerk. A teacher who is tone-deaf and walks around as if they are better than the kids they are educating. A teacher who gives out loads of homework followed by ridiculously hard tests, while providing little help and clarity. A teacher who isolates from the human beings in the classroom they spend nearly everyday with.

Do you remember the bad kids in that classroom. They were hero’s to anyone who had the misfortune of attending that teacher’s class. Those bad kids would be cheered for getting thrown out of the classroom after disrespecting that teacher. To their classmates, it was a privilege to watch those kids get under the skin of that awful teacher.  Any other time an unruly behaving classmate is considered a distraction. But when you have a bad teacher, who is unwilling to understand and change their behavior, they are welcomed as saviors.

The most unruly classmate ever, just became President of the United States. Donald J. Trump might be the solution to the problem Americans have with its governing body. A loudmouth jackass is being used by the American electorate to combat Washington D.C. inaction.

Have you you ever seen the movie, “The Core”. The plot of the movie is, the Earth’s core has stopped moving. To get the core moving again, the scientist travel in a spaceship loaded with nuclear weapons and detonate those weapons. The force of those weapons provide the momentum that get the Earth’s core started again.

The spaceship is the Republican party and Donald Trump plays the role of the nukes.

Trump supporters are asking the American people, many who have spent the last 18 months being insulted by the President Elect, to allow Trump to blow up the government.

Initially Trump’s candidacy was seen as a farce. The Huffington Post early in Trump’s run for office decided that they would put him on the entertainment section. Big mistake. Trumps candidacy was propelled by antics from the news outlets like the Huffington Post.

What made his bid for office stronger is when Trumps childlike behavior upset members of his own party. However, Trumps constituency cheered how their candidate exposed the blatant hypocrisy. Republicans and Democrats acted like children when they refused to pass legislation over bogus party rules, while Americans suffered. The party establishment’s jig was up and not even television outlets could quiet the whistle Trump was blowing.

But the greatest gift Trump and his team received was from the Democratic Party. Voters routinely demonstrated an unwillingness to support Hillary Clinton. Yet the party rigged her primary win over Bernie Sanders and the voters made Democrats suffer dearly.

Democrats will now have to live with the reality that Sanders could very well be the President -Elect now, if they would not have silenced the people. Those who feel threatened by Trumps administration and policies should thank the Democrats.

Especially Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who Trump should send a cake. His approval rating might receive an early boast if he sent strippers instead.

Schultz leaked emails, described how she cheated a deserving Sanders  out of the nomination, proving once and for all to voters, how corrupt both sides of the political divide behaves. Trump supporters rightfully punished both parties on election day.

Thanks to both Democrats and Republicans, the American people have a President who’s testimony and behavior is repulsive and maybe criminal. However, the criminal behavior of Capitol Hill has been far worse, for much longer.

Trumps behavior threatens the safety and well being of many Americans who he has been elected to serve. Yet beyond his divisive talking points, Trump has openly addressed the issues  facing this nation. He at least has promised action.

“Our country is in serious trouble. We don’t have victories anymore. We used to have victories, but we don’t have them. When was the last time anybody saw us beating, let’s say, China in a trade deal? They kill us. I beat China all the time. All the time.

When did we beat Japan at anything? They send their cars over by the millions, and what do we do? When was the last time you saw a Chevrolet in Tokyo? It doesn’t exist, folks. They beat us all the time.

When do we beat Mexico at the border? They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity. And now they are beating us economically. They are not our friend, believe me. But they’re killing us economically.

The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems.”

Right hear before Trump incites minorities with the racism that accompanied his campaign, he strikes a nerve with voters.

Trump address how the auto industry has used trade deals to exploit U.S. consumers and families. Motor cities such as Detroit have been abandoned with the help of the U.S. government.

Billionaires and millionaires illegally hire immigrants and do so with no penalty.  He also addressed how the U.S. has been called upon to fight others country’s wars.

“We spent $2 trillion in Iraq, $2 trillion. We lost thousands of lives, thousands in Iraq. We have wounded soldiers, who I love, I love — they’re great — all over the place, thousands and thousands of wounded soldiers.

And we have nothing. We can’t even go there. We have nothing. And every time we give Iraq equipment, the first time a bullet goes off in the air, they leave it.”

The U.S. government has failed to address the role it continues to play in wars that have cost American lives.

Trump asked voters reach beyond the bigotry, misogyny and antics to see his greater point. Maybe we should not look beyond these things. Truth is, no matter how much you may despise you neighbor, your neighbor is likely to face the same challenges that you do. It’s time to recognize those differences and work together. It was good that Trump cleared the air.

Trump will never be the authoritative leader that he romantically fantasizes about.  However he does present the opportunity to face our differences and problems and find real solutions.

“I watch the speeches of these people, and they say the sun will rise, the moon will set, all sorts of wonderful things will happen. And people are saying, “What’s going on? I just want a job. Just get me a job. I don’t need the rhetoric. I want a job.”

Thank god for the baddest kid in class.

What the hell is going on with White Women?

How did Donald Trump win White Women Voters?

It’s easy to notice when I’m confused. If you’re observing  me as if I’m Freud’s dog, I display two behaviors. The first behavior I display is showing my teeth without smiling. I’ll bite up on my top teeth, spread my lips apart while simultaneously using the muscle in my face to open my nostrils and pinch the bridge of my nose.

The second behavior is head scratching, followed by pulling at the extra skin on the bottom of my ear.

So yesterday night after the shock of the election result wore off, I began to pack my apartment as the anticipation begins of what day I will be shipped to my Hunger Games District. I started thinking about how I’ll need to get my hands on a pistol after I volunteer as tribute because certainly I’m not equipped to run around a forest with bows and arrows chasing children. Then I started to yank on my year.

While reading articles on how survive the great depression when I stumbled upon voting statics collected by NBC NEWS.  Donald Trump won the election with the voter turnout of rural white men. Yet, he also won white women voters at the polls. Hillary Clinton won women voters overall, 54 percent to Donald Trump’s 42 percent. But not the white ones.

Clinton couldn’t get support from women who look just like her.

Now it’s an appropriate time to confess my identity. I am a mid twenties black man from the city of St. Louis. I was raised by a single mother and I have three brothers and three sisters. We were all raised under the same, Christian household.

2008 was the first year I was eligible to vote and I voted for Barack Obama. I made that decision when I saw his face. His face resembled the face I saw and still see in the mirror.

When I examined Obama, I learned about a successful black man, who preached a Messiah’s message of change. Most importantly I must admit, I examined his face and how it compared to mine.

Since you have kept reading this long, I’ll keep it real with you. There was no way I was not going to vote for Obama. It was my senior year of high school and I was late to school, just like a lot of my other classmates because I had an election to vote in. He won and that night I experienced a euphoria that many other black people experienced. My brothers and I spent the entire night rapping, “My President is Black” lyrics. It was such a good feeling to have someone who looks just like me break the glass ceiling.

I still get goose bumps thinking about it. A man that looks like me became the President of the United States of America.

When I think about Trump becoming President next year I am consumed with fear. The fear of the future and how hard it will be to fight for my causes. The thought of new struggles that have now been bestowed on my demographic because of his ridiculous presidency is frightening.

But I’m still confused. How can white women overwhelming reject the face that looks back at them in the mirror. To reject the image in the mirror is one thing, but to reject it for Trump is mind numbing. I seriously don’t have enough skin on my head and tissue in my ear to scratch and pull on.

Trump has offended Mexicans, Muslims, veterans, disabled people and brown people. Three weeks before the election, he encouraged people on life support to stick around and vote. Apparently it’s more important to the President for people to vote than soak up remaining time with their loved ones.

Women were also targeted in Trump’s vitriol. He insinuated that Megyn Kelly hormones was the reason she challenged him on his long history of misogyny. Trump proposed the myth that a Muslim Gold Star mother was silenced by her husband, who allegedly prevented her from talking about her dead son. He even called his running opponent a  “nasty woman” during the final presidential debate. None of this persuaded white women who supported him overwhelmingly, along with the arsonist from rural county’s at the polls.

Not even the Access Hollywood tape, which featured Trump, who was knowingly being recorded, spewing alarming confessions. No budge from this key demographic.

Trump won 78% of conservative women voters. White women from the ages of 45-64, he won 58%. Protestant white women 64% and white women in general 53%.

Unmoved Masses

Now I’m not going to pretend to understand white women, especially conservative white women. However, I know a little something about how American’s vote.

Americans vote based on:

  1. Appearance
  2. Perception of Shared Cultural Experiences .
  3. Political views.

In that order.

I can’t understand how white women could bring themselves to vote for Trump especially over someone who looks like them.

No one is ever going to convince me that white women are politically  superior voters, who went to the polls and voted for the best candidate.

But first let me take care of some business. If you are a white conservative women who was never going to vote democratic, I’m not talking about you. If you are a women who did not vote for Clinton because of your politics, whatever they are, I support your decision. It was not my ballot and I don’t cast your votes, so I’m good with yall.

What bothers me is the white women who did not vote for Clinton because they just didn’t like her. Or the other white women who didn’t vote for her because she was a woman.

I remember watching an episode of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, where they interviewed a woman who is a truck mechanic (start video at 4 min’s 50 secs). She is a married white women, who lives in a rural area. She said she wouldn’t vote for Clinton because women are too dramatic to be President. She later reports that she has been the victim of sexism from male customers. She is not the only white woman I have heard with this opinion.

One day at the student newspaper I work for I showed a conservative white 20 -year old copy editor, rapper T.I comments on Clinton. According to Vibe magazine, T.I. said.

“Not to be sexist but, I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman,” he said. “Just because, every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But the president? It’s kinda like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally – they make very permanent, cemented decisions – and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen. And I sure would hate to just set off a nuke. [Other leaders] will not be able to negotiate the right kinds of foreign policy; the world ain’t ready yet. I think you might be able to the Loch Ness Monster elected before you could [get a woman].”

The copy editor response,” Yes I agree with that, women are too emotional. women are crazy man.” You want more.

I wrote an opinion piece on my schools health department giving out free condoms and not free tampons. My editor, then a 20-year old female was reluctant to do a story, no problem. She said she wanted to wait until the issue was relevant. I wrote the story and we get push back because of the way I excoriated the health department. She was mad at me for name calling. By the way, the school gave out tampons after we ran the story, likely because of the popularity of my editorial . That editor is still mad at me because of that.

I got some more for you. Me and my friend attended a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in a downtown square. After we grabbed some beers from a bar, we walked outside toward the parade. We were standing behind a gate where people lined-up, there are tables and chairs outside the bar just behind the gate. I place my beer down on the table and a white man who was leaning on the rail turns around and says,

“Let me move my wife’s purse out the way. Don’t want you to spill something on it. Technically it’s my purse, I paid for it. I payed a lot of money for this purse and I take better care of it.” His wife is white, she is late twenties to early thirties.

I got one more story for you.  I work part -time in the middle of the night. It’s easy work. I have a female co-worker. She is a white and above age 40. She is a mother of two daughters who also works at my place of employment. Tuesday was the first time she had ever voted. She voted for Trump because that’s what her husband instructed her to do.

The last example might be extreme and hopefully rare. A women who was intimidated by her husband and unwilling to lie about what her secret ballot said, that’s a sad story.

It was never going to happen

What I think is messed up is, white women had a chance to live vicariously in Clinton as black American’s and worldwide in Obama, and passed. They passed on the opportunity twice.

I don’t remember during this election cycle, Carly Fiorina receiving the basic instinct support of conservative women. She never had a chance but  unlike Clinton was extremely unknown. Fiorina however, was on that debate stage with Trump and conservative women didn’t turn out to support her.

I watch a lot of “MSNBC’s Morning Joe”. One thing struck  me when Mark Halperin was explaining how the polls missed on Trump’s victory. He said  when the Access Hollywood tapes were released, it didn’t change a single voters mind about Trump. They had already chosen to stop Clinton.

U.S._President_Bill_Clinton,_First_Lady_Hillary_Clinton,_and_White_House_Aide,_Franklin_Urteaga.jpgClinton was always too disconnected from white women. I believe she was shunned by both demographics that she could have been labeled. Single career independents like the New York Times Maureen Dowd, never forgave Clinton for leaving her job as a lawyer to become the first lady of Arkansas.

Career independent white women lashed out at Clinton for chasing a family life. Believing she was pathetic for loving Bill Clinton, a serial cheater and misogynist in his own right. They believed she turned her back on the once promised feminist leader from Wellesley.

Then Clinton was never fully embraced by the woman of Arkansas because she wouldn’t take Bill’s last name. Then Bill’s allegations came out. Hillary stood by Bill and was demonized for it. White mothers in great numbers have disowned Clinton who they see as privileged and tactical.

Bill_and_Hillary_Clinton_helping_at_a_food_bank_on_Thanksgiving.jpg

That’s where I’m confused. Here is a smart woman who gave up her life to get married to the man she loved. He cheats on her, she stays with him and the public never forgives her. Bill gets elected president twice, she is scorned by the country.

Hillary became an accomplished Senator after her husbands presidency, she worked hard as Secretary of State. After all that she is still shunned by her own community.

For Hillary, this election was all about the emails and distrust. The FBI investigations never once produced any validity to the claim her opponent made about her. Even the Clinton foundation scandal is more rumor that facts. Yet Hillary still lost to a man Tuesday, who is being sued for scamming people on an education.

Clinton is greeted by white women with the scorn of  middle school bathroom gossip walls. It makes no sense, I invite any of you to explain it to me in the comment section below.

Until thin I’ll been learning how to climb trees. #HungerGames2018

Avoid Being Blindsided, Heisman Race Isn’t Over

Not so fast Lamar Jackson, history sets precedent for Heisman upset.

Let’s be clear, Louisville Cardinals quarterback Lamar Jackson is the rightful owner of the 2016 Heisman trophy.  Jackson has accounted for 45 touchdowns and there’s at least three game remaining for Jackson to play.

Jackson has passed for 26 touchdowns and 2,753 yards and rushed for 19 touchdowns and 1,181 yards. Jackson ranks first in the nation in rushing touchdowns and fifth in rushing yards.

Statistics alone doesn’t decide who brings the trophy home. Heisman candidates also need to win a lot of games and produce spectacular plays in games. Jackson has both on his Heisman resume.

The Cardinals are 8-1, the lone loss coming against the undefeated Clemson Tigers. As for spectacular plays, Jackson has produced them liberally.

While playing Syracuse on Sept. 9, Jackson hurdled a defensive back  on his way to a rushing touchdown. During the stomping of Florida State, Jackson showed off his speed when he knifed through the Seminole defense for a 47-yard touchdown. As he reached the end zone he spun between to defenders and held the ball out away from his body with one hand, providing Cards fans with a memory they won’t soon forget.

Jackson should already have his name on the plaque for this years trophy. However the Heisman trophy is not an award that is handed out, it’s voted on.  Voters, especially Heisman voters, have a history of voting for the wrong candidate. Even when the choice seems clear cut.

Last Years Debacle

Last year, Alabama running back Derrick Henry won the Heisman trophy. Henry was arguably the best player on the team that would win the National Championship. Before he won the trophy, Henry rushed for 1,896 yards and 23 touchdowns. When the Tide played their toughest competition, Henry had best rushing performances. Any other year, Henry would have been the rightful winner. It was not any other year.

Christian McCaffrey was the most dominant player in 2015. McCaffrey scored 15 touchdowns before the Heisman ceremony. McCaffrey rushed for eight, caught four, scored another on a kick return and passed for two. McCaffrey racked up 3,496 yards from scrimmage, numbers that resembled Barry Sanders when he won the trophy.

Unlike Sanders, McCaffrey received nothing for his record breaking year. Not the Heisman, the Walter Camp or the Doak Walker. All those awards are supposed to be handed to the nations best player, which McCaffrey was.

West Coast Bias was the main reason McCaffrey lost the Heisman race. None of the voters stayed up late to watch the games McCaffrey played in. Most of the voters live on the east coast and the west coast games start at 10:oo pm on the east coast.

McCaffrey however, is not the first player to be jilted by the Downtown Athletic Club.

Should Be Winners

604px-Darren_McFadden.jpgDarren McFadden McFadden holds the distinction as being the only man to finish second in Heisman balloting for two consecutive years. In 2006, he finished behind Troy Smith and the following year to Tim Tebow.

In 2007, McFadden finished second it was because of Tebow’s popularity, not Tebow’s on-field achievements.

Yes, Tebow scored 55 touchdowns in ’07. Tebow made a strong case to take home the Heisman. But his team did not live up to expectations and he was the main reason why.

McFadden had a tremendous ’07 season. He rushed for 1,830 yards and 16 touchdowns. He tossed four touchdowns passes and hauled in a touchdown reception800px-tebow. McFadden was the best running back on the Razorbacks, despite the presence of All-American Felix Jones. McFadden was also the best quarterback on his team.

McFadden led his team to a win over the eventual National Champions LSU Tigers, in Baton Rouge.

Tebow, a quarterback with a team stacked with future NFL players, lost to LSU in Gainesville, Florida.

Larry Fitzgerald, Darren Sproles Jason White should not have won the 2003 Heisman. He was not the best player on his team, not to mention the entire country.

White played for the Oklahoma Sooners  and passed for 40 touchdowns in 2003. White played in a offense that allowed him to put up great stats.

jwhiteWhite’s success was just a mirage and his winning of the Heisman is still controversial. It was obvious at the time, White benefited from playing on a great team.

White Heisman wasn’t the only controversy the Sooners benefited from in 2003. After losing to Darren Sproles and the Kansas State Wildcats 35-7, in the Big 12 Championship game, the BCS computers ranked Oklahoma number one. Placing the Sooners in the National Champions vs LSU. A game the Sooners lost.

Fitzgerald or Sproles should have won the ’03 Heisman. Both made spectacular plays and played on winning teams.

Michael Vick, Drew Brees, Peter Warrick  The Heisman is supposed to be awarded to the most outstanding college football player in America. In 1999, Ron Dayne did not fit this description. Virginia Tech’s Vick,  Purdue’s Brees, and FSU’s Warrick were all better players then Dayne.

Watch this Warrick highlight reel. Warrick’s saucy moves in the open field rendered tacklers efforts futile. His FSU team played won National Championship that year and never lost a game. Warrick was also far more entertaining to watch then Dayne.

Speaking of entertaining, how about Vick. Long before he packed the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Vick was a must see attraction Blacksburg, Virginia. Vick’s open field running, combined with the cannon described as his left arm put on a show every Saturday. He led the Hookies to the National Championship game with an undefeated record.

Brees was the best player in the Big Ten. Brees and Purdue did lose to Dayne at home in ’99. Brees was playing on a team that was far less talented then one a quarterback of his talents deserved. Brees led a passing attack that carved up secondaries all season.

Losing to Dayne was one thing, but none of these guys took second place. Joe Hamilton from Georgia Tech did. Voters got both slots wrong on the ’99 ballot.

Dark Horses

University_of_Washington_Block_W_logo_RGB_brand_colors.SVG.pngJake Browning Washington QB Browning has been steady all year. If Louisville loses again he has a shot. Browning has tossed 34 touchdown passes and has a 67.7 completion percentage. A gaudy performance in the PAC 12 Championship game could swing voters late in the process.

Michigan_Wolverines_logo.svg.pngJabrill Peppers Michigan Weapon A few things need to happen for the countries most versatile player too take home the Heisman. First, Louisville loses bad. Second, Michigan continues to dominate opponents. Third and probably most important, Peppers needs a punt return for a touchdown against Ohio State. Michigan legends Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson, returned punts for touchdowns against Ohio State the year they won the Heisman.

Deshaun_Watson_2016.jpgClemson_University_Tiger_Paw_logo.svg.pngDeShaun Watson Clemson QB Watson may not have a chance at winning but could play the role of spoiler, like a third party candidate. Clemson and Louisville play in the same division of the ACC. As long as Clemson keeps winning, Louisville won’t be playing on conference championship weekend.  A terrific performance by Watson might be able to split the voters in the south and east coast. The argument could be made that Jackson season while memorable, was inconsequential.

CrimsonTideAlogo.pngJalen Hurts Alabama QB Keep an eye open for a late surge in his campaign. Hurts leads the best college football team in the nation right now. Only a freshman and Hurts commanded the Alabama’s offense like a senior. This past weekends clutch performance against LSU definitely  raised eyebrows. Hurts has played tougher competition than Jackson all season. Don’t be surprised to see Hurts name climb the ballot.

Hurd’s Exit Open’s Vol’s Concussion Controversy

Jalen Hurd’s Stepfathers Facebook Post Prompts New Questions

Jalen Hurd announced Monday of his intentions to transfer from the University of Tennessee. Tuesday night, Hurd’s parents released statements via social media that raised eyebrows.

Arthur Smotherman is Jalen Hurd’s stepfather, here some of his comments.

“The truth of the matter is, Jalen Hurd had a concussion at the Georgia game,” Smotherman said. “It didn’t happen on the end zone play, it happened in the beginning of the third quarter when he fell on his head. He didn’t think he was hurt, he went back in the game – he realized that he was hurting more than he thought. So they didn’t put him back in the game the rest of the game as part of concussion protocol.”

Okay, Hurd left the game because he suffered a concussion. Smotherman said the play didn’t happen in the end zone. The concussion occurred sometime early during third quarter.

This story is not making sense.

Here is what everyone seems to agree on.

  1. Jalen Hurd transferring from Tennessee is connected to how he was treated during Georgia game on Oct 1.
  2. Jalen Hurd did not finish the game.
  3. CBSSports reported that Hurd would miss the game against Texas A&M the following week, due to lower leg injury.

Here is the full CBS telecast from the Georgia- Tennessee game courtesy of You Tube.

Tennessee VS Georgia

We will use this video as our Zebruter film. Take a look at these crucial points in the video to get a clear view of what took place.

49:00 The start of the play where Hurd makes the costly fumble. Coach Butch Jones skin turns red as he shouts, “What are you doing!”

1:24:50 Hurd catches touchdown pass from QB Joshua Dobbs.

1:34:00 After Georgia offensive possession, Tennessee starts new drive with Hurd on sideline. Drive ends after three plays.

1:41:00 Tennessee starts new drive. Hurd still not on the field.

1:55:30 CBS sideline reporter Allie LaForce, says that she has been standing behind Hurd for 15 mins. LaForce says that Hurd is showing no signs of injury and has not recieved any medical attention.

2:12:10 LaForce again reporting that Hurd has not received medical attention and that his absence from play is a coaching decision. Hurd is seen on sideline with helmet on.

Jones needs to clear all of this up. Was Hurd Benched or not?If he was benched then Hurd lied to his stepfather about what happened to him during the game. The coaches most likely punished Hurd for his mind boggling play with a second half benching and a week long suspension. Tennessee lied about him being injured.

If Hurd was not lying and had a concussion, then someone has got to be fired.

If Hurd came out of the game and never received any medical treatment that’s a big problem. Medical treatment includes the training staff asking, ” Are you okay?” LaForce said he was not receiving medical attention. Hurd told his father that he had a concussion. If this is all true then someone has to be fired. Jones, the training staff or both.

Concussions can be a career ending injury. If Hurd suffered a concussion, that is a monumental failure by the Tennessee sideline. It puts players health at serious risk. If you look at the video’s of Hurd on the sideline, the light of the sun is covering his body. He should have been removed from the field where doctors could have taken a closer look at him.

Most importantly, if Hurd suffered a concussion and Tennessee knew about it, Jones must be fired. This would be the likely sequence of events.

  1. Hurd receives  a concussion
  2. Tennessee training staff ignores him
  3. Tennessee lies about the injury.

That is completely unacceptable. Jones needs to explain what happened.
